چکیده

The multiclass classification problem is considered and resolved through coding and regression. There are various coding schemes for transforming class labels into response scores. An equivalence notion of coding schemes is developed, and the regression approach is adopted for extracting a low-dimensional discriminant feature subspace. This feature subspace can be a linear subspace of the column span of out in this feature subspace using a linear classifier, which lead to a simple and computationally light but yet powerful toolkit for classification. Experimental results, including prediction ability and CPU time comparison with LIBSVM, show that the regression-based approach is a competent alternative for the multiclass problem. & 2009 Elsevier B.V. Multiclass Support Vector Classification via Regression

The problem of multiclass classification is considered and resolved through the multiresponse linear regression approach. Scores are used to encode the class labels into multivariate responses. The regression of scores on input attributes is used to extract a lowdimensional linear discriminant subspace. The classification training and prediction are carried out in this low-dimensional subspace....

Fixed-size kernel logistic regression for phoneme classification

Kernel logistic regression (KLR) is a popular non-linear classification technique. Unlike an empirical risk minimization approach such as employed by Support Vector Machines (SVMs), KLR yields probabilistic outcomes based on a maximum likelihood argument which are particularly important in speech recognition. Different from other KLR implementations we use a Nyström approximation to solve large...

Improved Output Coding for Classification Using Continuous Relaxation

Output coding is a general method for solving multiclass problems by reducing them to multiple binary classification problems. Previous research on output coding has employed, almost solely, predefined discrete codes. We describe an algorithm that improves the performance of output codes by relaxing them to continuous codes. The relaxation procedure is cast as an optimization problem and is rem...

Least square support vector machine based Multiclass classification of EEG signals

This paper describes the pattern recognition technique based on multiscale discrete wavelet transform(MDWT) and least square support vector machine (LS-SVM) for the classification of EEG signals. The different statistical features are extracted from each EEG signal corresponding to various seizer and nonsiezer brain functions, using MDWT. Further these sets of features are fed to the LS-SVM mul...

Using SVM and Error-correcting Codes for M Meeting Cor

Accurate classification of dialog acts (DAs) is important for many spoken language applications. Different methods have been proposed such as hidden Markov models (HMM), maximum entropy (Maxent), graphical models, and support vector machines (SVMs). In this paper, we investigate using SVMs for multiclass DA classification in the ICSI meeting corpus. We evaluate (1) representing DA tagging direc...
